Cat Protection Open Day
Saturday 4 November 2017
11am – 2pm
The theme for this year’s Open Day is the Good Neighbour Project, promoting responsible cat ownership.
Being a responsible cat owner means ensuring the welfare and wellbeing of your cat as well as protecting the local fauna and neighbourhood amenity.
Not to be missed by any cat-lover, we have lots of fun and informative activities planned for the biggest day on the Cat Protection calendar!
Our amazing Craft Club members will be holding a stall out the front of our shelter on Enmore Road selling their handmade goodies. All the craft club creations have been made with love and there will be a range of beautiful blankets, adorable knitted toys, baby booties and much more to choose from.
In Marie’s Place, we will be having two talks:
11.30am Cat Nutrition presented by Dr Penny Dobson
Vet and Senior Nutritional Consultant for Hill’s Pet Nutrition
12.30pm Importance of Vaccination presented by Dr Anne Fawcett
Vet, lecturer at University of Sydney and writer of Small Animal Talk
There will be a display on cat-proof fencing and enclosures, encouraging people to consider the benefits of providing secure and safe spaces in which their cats can enjoy the outdoors. We are pleased to have cat-proofing providers; Oscillot who offer a unique fence-top roller cat containment device and Secureakat who have a range of products from DIY kits and supplies to installation services, on board for Open Day.
A representative from Hill’s Pet Nutrition will be on hand to answer all your questions about providing the best diet for your cat, especially as they move through the different stages of their life and there will be a special Oz-Pet display showcasing their fabulous eco-friendly litter.
Upstairs in the Playroom, there we will have a refreshment area and back by popular demand there will be catnip tea for everyone! In our Rehoming area there will be a display on environmental enrichment for your cat including DIY scratching posts along with a step-by-step guide to creating your very own scratching posts at home.
Plus we will be selling tickets for our HUGE Christmas Raffle and wrapping up the day with our AGM at 2pm.
