Santiago – Rest in paws

I adopted Santiago and Miguel from the Cat Protection Society back in 2011. I wasn’t supposed to be adopting any cats that day – I had told my boyfriend at the time that I was “just looking”.

An hour later, I was filling out the adoption paperwork for one cat (Miguel) when I noticed a little white cat with a black splotch on his head frantically pawing at the glass of the kitten room.

I asked the volunteer, “Who’s that little guy?” When she said it was my kitten’s brother, well, I clearly had no choice but to leave with two kittens that day.

After 14 years in our hearts and home, Santiago passed away yesterday in his favourite chair, leaving behind two devastated cat guardians and his brothers Miguel, Pablo and Diablo.

Santy was such a quirky and loveable little dude who loved his snacks as much as we loved him (and his adorable neck tufties!).

Our world seems a lot less colourful without him in it.

Rest in paws, little man. Xxx
