NSW Government announces free pet registration for rescue animals
Just in case you needed another reason to adopt – the NSW Government has announced free lifetime pet registration for rescue animals.
By law cats and dogs must be registered by six months of age in NSW but from July 2021 when adopting a pet from a rehoming organisation, animal shelter or council pound you will no longer be required to pay the lifetime registration fee for your new furry friend.
This is wonderful news for potential adopters and provides hope to the many stray and unwanted pets who find their way to pounds and shelters every year. With one less expense for new pet parents to worry about, you can spend more time enjoying the cuddles and company of your new forever friend.
Cat Protection welcomes this initiative from the NSW Government and our cats and kittens are even more excited for restrictions to ease so they can find the loving and responsible homes they’ve been waiting patiently for.
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
