The Cat Protection Society of NSW Inc is an independent organisation founded in 1958 by a group of cat lovers concerned with the plight of homeless street cats. The Society began a program of low cost desexing to reduce the number of kittens and therefore, the number of cats and kittens abandoned.

Today, the Cat Protection Society is a charitable association with modern premises at 103 Enmore Road Newtown. Facilities include an adoption centre, welfare services, information and products to keep your cat happy and healthy. Sadly, we still have to deal with unwanted and abandoned cats and kittens but with your help and greater community awareness, we can continue to work to improve their lives.

Kitten Kindy

If you have recently adopted a kitten and would like some information on how to care for him/her we have a new 'Kitten Kindy' that may help you. The classes will give you information on raising your kitten in a responsible way, avoiding problem behaviour and training your kitten. Owners have the option to bring the kitten along to the class or to attend without the kitten. He/she must be vaccinated and be 8-12 weeks old.

Animals (Regulation of Sale) Bill 2007. Member for Sydney, Clover Moore, has introduced a Bill to ban the sale of mammals in pet shops, fairs and markets. Click here to read a copy of the Bill. The Cat Protection Society of NSW supports the Bill. We see the sad result of impulse purchases every week.
