Call for Submissions “Pest Animal Management Review”

The NSW Government Natural Resources Commission is calling for submissions on its “Pest animal management review” and the deadline of 18 May is fast approaching. We want to carefully consider the many ethical, scientific, veterinary and legal issues in our response to these proposals and this takes time.

We are all for responsible cat ownership, and all for protection of native animals, but that doesn’t mean we’re willing to embrace poisoning and shooting cats, or declaring them pests.

We will publish our submission when we’re ready but we don’t expect that will be until very close to the deadline. You can help to protect cats by sharing and discussing the review, and making your own submission (even if it’s simply to call for more time and consideration). The review relies on the assumption that “a large majority of people” support the “elimination” of cats, so every submission in the defence of cats sends a powerful message.
