Storm damage to our shelter
The hailstorm that wreaked havoc across Sydney on ANZAC Day caused some flooding and damage to our adoption centre and other areas of our building.
All of the cats and kittens are perfectly safe, however, as a precaution we have evacuated the cats from the front section of the building to vet clinics and boarding facilities until the full extent of the damage can be assessed and all necessary repairs are made, which could take some time due to the high demand these services are experiencing.
Limited adoptions
Kittens are still available to adopt here at Newtown, as are the beautiful Pepe & Poppy.
Kittens are also available for adoption from Divine Creatures in Willoughby, and from Thursday 30 April, at Concord Veterinary Hospital.
Please note that most of our adult cats are being boarded elsewhere while the adoption centre is undergoing repairs but if you are interested in meeting and adopting one of our adults or if you have already met one of our beautiful adult cats and would like to adopt them, please call our adoption centre on 9557 4818 to make an appointment.
Surrenders
Unfortunately we cannot accept any surrendered cats at this stage as our quarantine area, where our new arrivals are housed, has been evacuated.
Welfare office and retail sales
While we can’t accept surrenders, our welfare office is still open to provide information, advice and desexing assistance: phone 9519 701.
And our store is still open so please do come in to purchase your food, litter, flea treatments, toys and any other cat related products.
Donations
Although Cat Protection is insured, we are anticipating a loss in revenue due to our limited adoption services and ongoing disruptions. Anyone wishing to make a donation to help Cat Protection through this trying time can do so here. We thank you for your compassion and support.
Thank you …
To all of the staff, volunteers, vets and friends of Cat Protection who worked into the night on Saturday, mopping up, moving stock and transporting our cats and then settling them into their new temporary accommodation.
To all of the supporters who answered our Facebook call for help and were at our doors on Sunday morning with towels.
To Sydney Animal Hospitals Inner West, Concord Veterinary Hospital and Divine Creatures who are caring for our feline friends.
You are all amazing – thank you!
