After a few setbacks during the past financial year, Cat Protection is pleased to report a number of accomplishments to end the 2014-15 financial year on a high note.

Adoption centre reopens
Repairs and renovations to our adoption centre were completed and the adult cats have returned to 103 Enmore Road. Once again, we are able to accept surrenders and continue to find loving homes for cats in need … because every cat deserves a loving and responsible home.

We know that people are busy and traffic is congested, so coming
to Newtown isn’t appealing to everyone (but that said, when you’re
choosing a friend for life, a few hours of your time is a good investment!).

Storm catches cats out

CATS are renowned for their dislike of water and loud noise, so the hailstorm that swept across the city on Anzac Day caused havoc at the Cat Protection Society of NSW in Newtown.

The situation deteriorated as water began to build up on the roof and cause some serious damage,

The annual Cat Protection Volunteer’s Party coincides with National Volunteers Week and on Saturday 16 May, we met to celebrate and applaude our volunteers from across all roles and the invaluable support they provide.

The hailstorm that wreaked havoc across Sydney on ANZAC Day caused some flooding and damage to our adoption centre and other areas of our building.

All of the cats and kittens are perfectly safe, however, as a precaution we have evacuated the cats from the front section of the building to vet clinics and boarding facilities until the full extent of the damage can be assessed and all necessary repairs are made, which could take some time due to the high demand these services are experiencing.

Our adoption centre will be open for adoptions with reduced hours this ANZAC Day, Saturday 25 April 2015 – 12-3.30pm.
