Fabulous Felines Brooch Collection

This year we’re celebrating 60 years of caring for cats and to mark this momentous occasion, we ran a competition asking people to send in photos of their cat with something diamond related. We were dazzled by all the wonderful entries and asked our faithful Facebook friends to vote for their favourites.

We are super excited to reveal the winners and launch the Fabulous Felines collection, a very special and very sparkly set of limited-edition brooches celebrating our Diamond Anniversary!

Draft new constitution for consideration by members

As members have been advised by post, Cat Protection is contemplating moving its incorporation from the auspices of the NSW Associations Incorporation Act and NSW Fair Trading to the federal Corporations Act and ASIC. The reason for this is that the NSW system is intended to cover smaller organisations and our operations and assets are considered too large. However, any decision to make such a change can only be made by members.

Nine per cent increase in vaccinated pet cats in past year

At Cat Protection we are very pleased by the news from our latest Ipsos survey showing positive attitudes to responsible pet ownership.

The great news is that vaccination rates have increased by 9% in the past year.

The 500 Cats Challenge

The Cat Protection Society of NSW is celebrating 60 years of caring for cats with a major discount desexing program in Sydney: the 500 Cats Challenge.

For just $50, pensioners and health care card holders can have their cat desexed and vaccinated. The goal is to have 500 cats desexed before the next kitten season.

“Desexing is good for a cat’s health and behaviour, it’s good for feline welfare and the environment and of course it curbs the number of unwanted and homeless cats,” Cat Protection CEO Kristina Vesk said “Vaccinations are essential to both individual cat health and feline population health.

Hornsby Shire cat trapping program

This week Cat Protection’s attention was drawn to the cat trapping program commenced in recent months by Hornsby Shire Council.

It has been suggested that we are involved with this program. Cat Protection is not involved with this program – nor are we involved with any other trapping programs.

You can always call our office (and please do) to verify whether any person or organisation claiming to represent Cat Protection actually does so.

Herding Cats Exhibition

Herding Cats was an amazing group exhibition held over two months, as part of the Bein’ Narly 2018 Art Festival, in honour of Young Henry’s much missed brewery cat “Blackie”. Artists in the exhibition generously donated a portion of sales to Cat Protection, in total raising $1281 to help our feline friends!
